Bill Aston, is a seasoned professional with over 50 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, has established himself as a leading figure in the field of quality management. Throughout his career, Bill has provided invaluable support to companies by assisting them in developing robust quality management systems, including API Q1, API Q2, and ISO 9001. His expertise extends beyond system development, as he has also played a pivotal role in training and developing auditors, welding inspectors, and NDE personnel, helping them obtain essential certifications.
In his capacity as a consultant, Bill has worked closely with organizations to establish comprehensive procedures and programs for managing risk, contingency planning, supplier quality, and various audits related to process, product, and design packages. Since his retirement from Saudi Aramco and Exxon Company USA in 2003, Bill has provided support to companies seeking API Q1 and ISO 9001 certifications and various API product monogram licenses. His extensive credentials as a trainer include being an API-U Approved Trainer, an Exemplar Global Recognized Training Provider, and a PECB Certified Trainer.
Bill also maintains current certifications as an Exemplar Global Master Auditor, PECB Lead Auditor, and ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, further solidifying his reputation as a highly competent professional in the field. Bill has written numerous articles that have been published in ASQ Quality Progress Magazine and has served as an ASQ Ask the Experts on Standards contributor since 2009.
Bill’s knowledge spans all phases of QA/QC, risk management, mechanical inspection of process and rotating equipment, process piping, onshore and offshore pipelines, pressure vessels, welding inspection, and NDE. Bill’s expertise has led to his active involvement as a voting member on key industry committees, including the API Quality Subcommittee 18, API Supply Chain Management Subcommittee 20, and the US TAG to ISO TC 176.
