Background: This question was received from a person that recently completed an Exemplar Global RTP, API Q1 Certification Workshop.
Question: If any concerns regarding improvement are identified while conducting an internal audit, should the Auditor issue a preventive action ?
ATCS Comment: It’s important to remember a Preventive Action Request (PAR) is always proactive. It’s an action taken to prevent the occurrence of a nonconforming condition. If the nonconformance has already occurred, the Auditor should issue a Corrective Action Request (CAR). A CAR is reactive.
Response: Internal audits are an effective tool for identifying areas that require improvement. When an area of potential improvement is found, this information should be included the internal audit report as a recommendation or an opportunity for improvement. The organization should ensure a PAR is issued if appropriate. I hope this helps.
