Which-standard, information-request, we have some metals and we would like to know which standard to buy or get to get a quality criteria for different metals “defects” for example, rust, halo effect, etc.

Without knowing any of the specifics about your company’s product such as material type, design requirements or the product’s intended end use, I can only make a general recommendation that your company purchase a copy of Volume 5 of the American Society for Metals Handbook for Surface Engineering.

This handbook contains a wealth of information regarding metal surface requirements for electroplating, paints and coatings, surface cleaning and other finishing methods.  Go to www.asm-intl.org then select “Materials Information” then select “ASM Handbooks” to purchase a copy of this reference book.  I hope this helps.
